Count its features to know its taste. All melons have vertical features that start from each end of the melon. If you have less than 10 lines, then the melon will be less sweet because it will not have had time to develop well. You can also see if the stalk comes off easily, if your thumb goes down at the ends of the melon, and if it is heavy.
